A portrait of my daughters every week in 2017

Big: I’m currently having a meltdown about the dwindling weeks left in the school year, because they mean saying goodbye to her wonderfully warm, safe and small private school.  Next year we’re switching her to public school, a decision made by necessity not choice, and I’m regretting it more and more each day.

Little: A little late to the party, but finally sitting up on her own.  She’s pretty happy about it to, especially when it means she gets to play with her sister.

Big: Starts pretty much every sentence with “every time you want to talk to me call me <insert the name of who she is pretending to be at the time>”

Little: My view at least 50% of her waking hours.  I’m so grateful she likes to be worn again as it makes life so much easier.

Big: I spent some time shopping with her today, for some new dresses.  She was sweet, humble and generally wonderful to be around.  With her four going on fourteen attitude as of late it was a wonderful way to reconnect with her.

Little: Does this thing where she grabs my entire face and tries to chomp on it when she’s excited to see me.  It’s probably my favorite thing about her right now.

Big: every bit as defiant as she looks, in the very best way.

Little: shrieking like the little maniac she is, not crying though which is an improvement.

Big: has been Elsa, Moana, Anna, Rapunzel, Angelina, Giselle, Aurora, “that little girl in the blue dress” and any other character or person she deems worthy to pretend to be in that moment.  Pretty much every other thing out of her mouth to me is “anytime you wanna talk to me, call me_________.”

Little: likes the carrier so much finally that I’ve been leaving her car seat in the car the past few days.  It’s been pretty great not to lug that thing everywhere we go.
